    • Daniel Behn
      Profile
      Daniel is an American-trained lawyer who is a licensed attorney at law in New York and Washington, DC. He is Of Counsel and works as a consultant in our international arbitration practice. He is also a postdoctoral research fellow on the international investment law team at PluriCourts, a public international law institute at the University of Oslo. PluriCourts is a Centre of Excellence funded by the Norwegian Research Council looking at the long-term legitimacy of international courts and tribunals. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Tulane University School of Law, where he was the Executive Editor of the Tulane Journal for International and Comparative Law. He also holds a PhD in public international law and an LLM with distinction in international dispute settlement from the University of Dundee’s Centre for Energy, Petroleum, and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP), where he was the Ibrahim Shihata Fellow in international law. His research focuses on the development of investment treaty arbitration as a form of legitimate international adjudication and how issues of justice and fairness influence and motivate the manner in which international legal orders evolve.
      Areas of Interest
      Daniel’s expertise ranges from theoretical issues in public international law to specialized regimes in international law such as trade and investment law, energy law, environmental law, and climate change law. His specific expertise is in international arbitration in general, and investment treaty arbitration specifically. As the last PhD student of the late Professor Thomas Waelde, Daniel has a developed broad knowledge in many areas of public international law and publishes regularly on such issues. He has done extensive consultancy work for the World Bank and international think tanks on issues of international economic law. He is a member of the Yale Law School Society for Policy Scientists and has presented his work or lectured at major universities such as the Yale Law School, Cambridge University, McGill University, and the Higher School of Economics in Moscow.

She has been in-house lawyer of the general agency of Evergreen Marine Corporation Ltd. in Spain . She is current member to the Barcelona Bar Association and to their Commission of Maritime Law. She drafted her dissertation on the Legal Framework for Yachting in Spain.

Before joining AACNI, Elisabeth had worked as an external auditor for KPMG in Barcelona, as Finance Controller for a food industry group of companies, and for Société de Gestion Financière et Contable in Gingins, Switzerland.

      Qualified lawyer from Bolivia, Ana María holds a PhD in International Law (University of Dundee), LL.M in Law and Economics (Utrecht University), LL.M. in Comparative European and International Law (Maastricht University) and a Law degree (Universidad Católica Boliviana). For several years, she was Legal Officer and Legal Director at the national public utility regulatory system (SIRESE) in Bolivia, where she advised on appeals by foreign and national investors, and consumers in the sectors of telecommunications, hydrocarbons, electricity, transport and water supply. Currently, she is a teaching fellow in International Economic Law (International Investment Law, WTO Law and Public International Law) at the University of Edinburgh and couches the ELSA moot court team. She is co-editor of the journal Arbitration Watch.

      Erman is a qualified lawyer in Turkey. He is a legal consultant and acts as Counsel in international arbitration. Erman holds an LLM with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh and an LLB from Ankara University. He completed his training at the Energy Charter Secretariat in Brussels in 2012, where he researched and wrote on the investment and competition law provisions of the Energy Charter Treaty. Erman is currently a PhD Research Scholar in the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) of the University of Dundee.
