Maria Rosa Gutés


Maria Rosa is a practicing lawyer qualified in Spain. She was admitted to the Bar in 1995. She holds a PhD in shipping law (cum laude) from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona and a LLM in public law from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra of Barcelona. Before joining the firm, Maria Rosa served as a judge for 5 years at the Courts of Barcelona and worked for other law firms and a P&I Club. Maria Rosa has wide experience in lecturing at the Universitat Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona and the Uiversitat Abat Oliba. She authored the book “La Avería Gruesa o Común” on the York-Antwerp Rules and has written in Law journals. She has been the recipient of various awards and scholarships from prestigious organisations.

Areas of Interest

Maria Rosa has a keen interest in shipping and transport, including matters such as CMR disputes, charter-parties and bills of lading disputes, ship arrests, salvage, shipbuilding and repair, collisions, marine and cargo insurance, general average, and marine casualties in general. She acts in litigation before the Spanish courts, as well as in arbitration.
